The Adventure Dog App is an online and mobile service that helps dog owners discover, add, review and explore dog-friendly locations and activities.

This means we determine why and how personal information is used in connection with The Adventure Dog App.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you:

• create or maintain a profile for yourself or your dog;
• use location-based features;
• add a dog-friendly spot;
• upload a photograph;
• leave a rating or review;
• save or favourite content;
• report content;
• use our website;

• otherwise use The Adventure Dog App.

The Service is intended only for people aged 18 or over.

• create and administer accounts;
• authenticate users;
• provide and operate the Service;
• maintain profiles;
• provide maps and location-based functionality;
• allow users to submit locations;
• publish community content;
• provide ratings and reviews;
• store and display photographs;
• provide saved/favourite functionality;

• moderate inappropriate, unsafe, misleading or unlawful content;
• protect the security and integrity of the Service;
• prevent misuse, fraud and abuse;
• respond to enquiries and support requests;
• administer account deletion and privacy requests;
• enforce our Terms & Conditions;

• establish, exercise or defend legal claims where necessary.

Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the account and Service you request under our Terms & Conditions.

Legitimate interests — where processing is reasonably necessary to operate, secure and moderate the Service, maintain a useful community map, investigate reports, prevent abuse and protect our users and Service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

Legal obligation — where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal requirement.

Consent — where applicable, including where your device asks whether you wish to permit access to your location or where another specific consent is required.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent. For example, you can withdraw device location permission through your device settings.

The Adventure Dog App is built around community-generated location information. Information you deliberately submit for publication may therefore be visible to other users, including:

• places;
• descriptions;
• location coordinates;
• categories;
• amenities;
• photographs;
• ratings;
• review text; and
• your dog's name where you choose to include it with a review.

Do not submit information or photographs that you do not have the right to publish.

You should avoid uploading photographs containing identifiable people unless you have an appropriate right or permission to do so.

We use third parties where necessary to provide the Service.

The Adventure Dog App is operated from the United Kingdom, but its current Base44 infrastructure stores account data, application/database information and user-uploaded files in the United States.

This means personal information may be transferred outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is subject to a restricted international transfer under UK data protection law, we require an appropriate safeguard or other lawful transfer mechanism to be used.

Base44's data-processing arrangements provide mechanisms for international transfers, including applicable adequacy mechanisms and contractual safeguards.

You may contact us if you would like further information about safeguards relevant to your personal information.

We do not keep personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including relevant legal, security, dispute-resolution and regulatory requirements.

Generally:

• account and profile information is retained while your account remains active;
• account/profile information is deleted or anonymised following account deletion, subject to information we reasonably or legally need to retain;
• support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with the enquiry and related legal or administrative requirements;
• reports and moderation records may be retained where reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent abuse, maintain records of moderation decisions or establish or defend legal claims;
• security and technical logs may be retained for appropriate security and operational periods; and
• backups may temporarily retain deleted information until overwritten through the ordinary backup process.

Community contributions such as places, reviews and photographs may remain after you delete your account so that account deletion does not unnecessarily damage the community database.

Where appropriate, the association between retained community content and the deleted account will be removed or anonymised when it is no longer necessary to retain that association.

You may request removal of personal information contained within previously submitted community content. We will assess such requests in accordance with applicable data protection law.

You can initiate deletion of your account from within the app through:

Profile → Settings → Delete Account

Deleting your account does not necessarily delete every piece of community content you previously contributed.

You may also contact theadventuredogapp@gmail.com regarding deletion of your account, submitted content or personal information.

Where required for distribution through an app store, we will also provide an external method of requesting account deletion through our website.

The Adventure Dog App does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics/tracking cookies.

Strictly necessary or functional technologies may be used where required to operate the Service, including maintaining authentication sessions and keeping users securely logged in.

If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking technologies in future, we will update our practices and obtain consent where required.

We do not currently use your personal information for marketing newsletters or advertising.

We may send essential service communications such as account verification, password reset, security, support or important service-related messages.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information.

We also rely upon security measures implemented by the providers supplying our infrastructure.

However, no internet service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights including:

• the right of access to your personal information;
• the right to rectification of inaccurate information;
• the right to erasure in certain circumstances;
• the right to restrict processing in certain circumstances;

The Adventure Dog App is intended only for people aged 18 or over.

You must not create an account if you are under 18.

If we become aware that an account is being used by someone under 18, we may suspend or delete the account and take appropriate steps regarding associated personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service, our technology, our data practices or applicable law changes.

Where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice through the app, website, email or other appropriate means.

The date at the top of this policy identifies when it was last updated.
